Oakley South Africa Welcomes Rosy Hodge To The Team

Oakley are proud to announce the signing of top South African female surfing professional Rosy Hodge onto their team. Rosy, who hails from East London, is a member of the elite Women’s World Tour of Surfing, and 2010 will be her fourth year competing on this top level. Qualifying for the World Tour for the first time in 2007, Rosy is now a seasoned competitor and it is time for this young talent to shine. Oakley are very stoked to have her onboard their eyewear program for 2010.

Oakley South Africa team manager Greg Emslie is a huge Rosy fan and supporter, and is more than delighted to have her on the team.

“It is a real boost for Oakley to have signed up Rosy,” said Greg of the newest member of the team. “She is a great ambassador for South African surfing and her talent, results and image suit the Oakley Women’s Program perfectly. I have watched Rosy grow up surfing in East London, really push herself and grow from strength to strength, and I feel that with the knowledge and experience she has gained, 2010 will be her best year ever!”

The talented natural-footer who grew up surfing the perfect waves of the Queensbury Bay area, is equally as pleased with the signing. “I’m super happy to be a part of the Oakley brand and I’m really looking forward to working with the whole crew.” said Rosy. “I’ve got people like Greg Emslie and Seth Hulley helping me out so I’m in really good hands and I really respect them. The support so far has been awesome and I think that 2010 is going to be a cracker!”

Rosy joins a team of girls that include Tammy Lee Smith, Stacey Guy and Roxy Louw, as well as top surfers like Davey Weare and Royden Bryson.

2010 Love To Be There.

Ok this update for my site is long over due. Like 22 days but I hope everyones new year has started with a bang.

Im still on the North Shore of Oahu and its safe to say the waves have been massive. Waimea Bay has been delivering some awesome waves. I haven’t ventured out there yet but Ive had some super fun sessions out at Sunset and a Backyards. Here are a few photos from my season courtesy of thespex.com

“So good to be home after my trip to Cali and Cost Rica. Here a a few pics that Sacha took of me getting creative on my new ‘Kazuma’ surfboards and going for an evening session at Q-bay. Waves weren’t that good, but I still had fun. Was trying out a fun board that Sean Odonez, a shaper from Maui, crafted for me earlier this year.”

Today, Rosy Hodge finished in runner-up spot to Courtney Conologue (USA) at the 2009 ISA World Games in Costa Rica. Finishing as the highest placed South African in the event, she out-surfed Sage Ericson (USA) and Pauline Ado (FRA) who placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the final. Well Done Rosy!

Rosy Dominates her way into the Final

The last remaining South African in the event. Rosy managed to fight her way into the 2009 ISA World Surfing Games Grand Final. With her confident and smooth style she paved her way through the main rounds, avoiding the repo round along the way.

Rosy takes out Round 4 in Costa Rica

Today Rosy defeated 2004 World Champion, Sofia Mulanovich in her Round 4 heat to progress into Round 5.

In Round 5 she will be competing against Sofia Mulanovich (PER) again, Pauline Ado (FRA) and Sage Ericson (USA) for a spot in the ISA World Surfing Games Final.

Rosy cruised through her Round 3 heat today, posting a total heat score of 10.97 out of 20. In her Round 4 heat, Rosy will team up with South African Team mate, Nikita Robb, who will help her try eliminate Sofia Mulanovich(Per) and Courtney Conologue(USA) and send them into the Repo Round.
